While sedentary, the ShadowTrap is far from harmless. Capable of living both alone or in large groups, this plant has a nasty habit of growing exactly where it isn't wanted. Often laying dormant under platforms and in the darkest shadows, this monster waits for unsuspecting creatures to fall into its waiting jaws.
To conserve energy and blend in with its surroundings, the ShadowTrap rests closed up with its leaves pulled in. When another creature gets close enough, the leaves spread and the head opens, allowing the plant to attack. This waking up takes a couple of seconds, so the wary critter may have time to jump back and avoid being caught. If the plant is unsuccessful and its prey moves away, it will eventually go back to being dormant.

These creatures can be used to keep the player from certain areas until a light source is found and utilized correctly, or to make the potential of falling off an object a lot more dangerous.

They also look lovely in shrubberies.
